Video Gaming

I have highly specific video game interests.

Thank You, Mr. Iwata

It’s been almost a month since Satoru Iwata’s sudden passing. I still think about it almost every day. The thought immediately following is usually some version of “That’s messed up.” It’s astounding, something that no one really saw coming. The way we found out. The sudden outpouring of emotion on social media. The fan art – […]

Kirby: Queen Sectonia

For a collaboration of Kirby bosses, I illustrated Queen Sectonia, the final boss of Kirby Triple Deluxe! Her battle’s music, “DIRTY & BEAUTY“, captures perfectly the theme of her villainy. She quickly became one of my favorite bosses of the whole Kirby series. Sectonia © Nintendo

Awesome Games Done Quick 2014: Fighting Cancer with Games!

Awesome Games Done Quick

For some reason, I only JUST found out about this event — a week-long, 24-hour livestream of video game speedruns done to raise funds for cancer research through the Prevent Cancer Foundation. A great thing for a great cause: as of this posting, they’ve raised $363,000 of their $500,000 goal! I’ve been watching on-and-off since Tuesday and I’ve gotta say, as someone who knows one too many people touched by cancer, and as a gamer, that I’m very happy this event exists to help people.

EDIT: They ultimately raised over one million dollars! $1,023,218.02 as of 1/14 10 AM CST. That’s amazing.
