Untitled (for Japan)

2011, mixed media (newspaper, bristol board, marker, canvas). Piece created to raise funds for the 2011 disaster in Japan. It was included in black & white in Aftershock: Artists Respond to Disaster in Japan. The canvas is patterned with glued excerpts from The Tennessean about the tragic tsunami’s effects in Japan, including news from the Japanese Consulate in Nashville.

This piece is also the debut of one of my characters, Michio, who represents inner happiness and trueness to self. (A lot was on my mind when I made this piece.) With his hands creating the shape of a heart, he wishes peace and happiness upon the people of Japan and of Tennessee.

The piece is still available for sale. The asking price is $40. The proceeds will go toward the GlobalGiving Japan Earthquake And Tsunami Relief Fund.

Designer, artist, author, comic enthusiast, and geek about visual design/video games/Japan/human rights. Among other things!
