2012. An original educational board game concept based around the theory of evolution.
Each player (2 to 6 in number) starts as a single-celled organism and changes through the course of the game. The core concept involves change based on migrating from one environmental region (on the game board) to another, plus change brought about by interactions with different species (that is, the players). There are three classes of cards used to act in certain circumstances: Action, Epoch, and Evolution. Action involves conflict or absorption; Epoch involves mutation or extinction; Evolution involves changes based on regions and are categorized by such.
Certain conditions must be met in the process of moving from one terrain type to another on the game board and crossing paths with other players. For example, if a carnivore encounters an herbivore, it has the opportunity to eradicate the herbivore’s species line with the roll of a die; if a bird enters the sea region, it may gain the ability to swim; and so on.
The game would feature hundreds of small and varied game pieces in the form of simplified silhouetted lifeforms and situational cards.
As of December 2013, the concept is still being developed and packaging designed.
