Awesome Games Done Quick 2014: Fighting Cancer with Games!

Awesome Games Done Quick

For some reason, I only JUST found out about this event — a week-long, 24-hour livestream of video game speedruns done to raise funds for cancer research through the Prevent Cancer Foundation. A great thing for a great cause: as of this posting, they’ve raised $363,000 of their $500,000 goal! I’ve been watching on-and-off since Tuesday and I’ve gotta say, as someone who knows one too many people touched by cancer, and as a gamer, that I’m very happy this event exists to help people.

EDIT: They ultimately raised over one million dollars! $1,023,218.02 as of 1/14 10 AM CST. That’s amazing.

Shantae WIP

I discovered the Shantae games this year. I had been told about them in the past, but I sort of overlooked them in the midst of my comically oversized gaming backlog. I picked up the original Game Boy game on the Nintendo 3DS eShop this summer, and it’s wonderful! I can’t believe I didn’t know […]

Kirby vs. Computer Virus

I drew this for Ashley Davis’s Kirby’s Dream Zine! If you know one thing about me, know this: I am a huge Kirby fan. Pressed for time, I originally wanted this to be more painterly and elaborate, but it turned sort of papery instead, which was simpler with the time I had…and I like it […]

KUMA! TORA!

2013, Paint Tool Sai. I drew this for Psychokinetic, a Mother/Earthbound series fan zine published in 2016. This is Kumatora, a character from Japanese game Mother 3. Mother 3 deals with themes of loss, memory, power, gender, psychics, mother nature, and commercialization. This character in particular is a psychic tomboyish princess and my favorite character […]

ACNL: Love Dress

This is the premier dress for D Designs, my Animal Crossing: New Leaf fashion label! This Love Dress is perfect for a Valentine’s Day outing, or if you’re just feeling cute! Its simple and classic appearance may suit you throughout all seasons. In ACNL, once you befriend Sable, you’ll gain access to the QR Code […]

Luvdisc

2013, Paint Tool Sai. A rapid warm-up experiment with simple colors and shapes, featuring an anthropomorphized Pokémon. The sixth generation of main-line Pokémon games came out this year. I’ve been playing them since I was 11 — so, for most of my life. It’s interesting and awesome to see people who are 10 playing it now, […]

The Mario Violinist (and More Mario)

You should know, I’m on a real Mario kick right now. With the recent release of Super Mario Galaxy 2, not to mention E3 with all the other great returning classic platform heroes, I just want to play video games all day. But such desires of the id are played down and subdued, only to be lived out in my fantasies while I watch video game related media at work.

(Nah, I’m working, honestly… with a little peep here and there.)

So anyway, I got a real kick out of this:

Muscle March: Catch the Imp!

You know that game Muscle March that I posted about earlier? Well, I finally remembered to buy it. It’s just as challenging as I thought it would be, with a dash of “oh gawd” near the third parts of stages.

I’m mainly making this entry because there’s a hot pink kappa in the village stage, which amuses me to no end:
