High-Resolution, Public Domain Artwork – Courtesy of MET

The Metropolitan Museum of Art, through an initiative called Open Access for Scholarly Content (OASC), put up hundreds of thousands of classic artworks online  in high-resolution for free public viewing. Says Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO:

Through this new, open-access policy, we join a growing number of museums that provide free access to images of art in the public domain. I am delighted that digital technology can open the doors to this trove of images from our encyclopedic collection.

I’m all about this sort of thing, so thank you, MET!
